O Come Emmanuel

The Birth of Jesus is not only in the New Testament but also is a Hebrew Old Testament Prophecy.  According to Micah, 5:2 we know He was born into the tribe of Judah in the region of Ephrathah, in the town of Bethlehem: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

We Also know from Isaiah 7:14 we know that Jesus was born from a virgin: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and you will call him Immanuel.”  Immanuel means “God with us”.   As I write this blog on this December evening, I am so glad that on the holy night 2000 years ago, that God sent a Savior.

"O come, O come, Emmanuel

And ransom captive Israel

That mourns in lonely exile here

Until the Son of God appear

Rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel

Shall come to thee, O Israel"
